Die Zentralbank von Zypern wird künftig von Chrystalla Georghadji geführt:
Der Staatspräsident hat die altgediente Regierungstechnokratin zur Gouverneurin ernannt, wie die Regierung am Dienstag mitteilte. Sie folgt damit am 11. April auf Panikos Demetriades, der am Montag seinen Rücktritt eingereicht hatte – „hauptsächlich aus persönlichen und familiären Gründen“, wie es hieß.
Seine zweijährige Amtszeit war allerdings durch häufige Zankereien zwischen ihm und der Mitte-Links-Regierung von Präsident Nikos Anastasiades gekennzeichnet.
