3,000 Fort Stewart troops headed to Europe to train with NATO allies
More than 3,000 Fort Stewart soldiers will deploy to Europe in March, where they’ll spread across at least seven countries to train with NATO allies under the Operation Atlantic Resolve umbrella.
The soldiers, primarily from the 3rd Infantry Division’s 1st Armored Brigade Combat Team, are expected to spend about three months in Europe serving as the U.S. Army’s European Rotational Force and the NATO Response Force.
The rotation will help ensure NATO military partners that the U.S. is committed to their security as heavy fighting continues along the Ukraine-Russia border, said Army Brig. Gen. Jim Blackburn, Task Force Marne, commander and the current senior officer at Fort Stewart.
